We’re having the 2025 County Party Convention on Saturday, May10th at 10am at the Powell County Public Library
Calling all registered Democrats in Powell County! Come join us on May 10th at the Powell County Public Library as we hold our quadrennial County Party Convention. This is the process to elect your next County Executive Committee.
- What: 2025 County Party Convention
- When: Saturday, May 10th at 10:00 am
- Where: Powell County Public Library
We need representatives from each precinct in Powell County. Specifically, we need a male, a female, and a youth (under 40) from each precinct who are registered Democrats. Here’s the process:
- Representatives from each precinct will gather to nominate a man, woman, and youth to represent them. If you don’t know your precinct, don’t worry. We’ll have people on hand that day to look it up for you.
- The three people chosen from each precinct will gather with the others chosen from the precinct to nominate people to the next Powell County Executive Committee. The people they nominate don’t have to be among the people chosen to represent their precinct. They don’t even have to be at the meeting.
- Nominations will be heard and voted on. The Executive Committee is composed of 20 people: 10 men and 10 women. Once the Executive Committee is chosen, they will then assemble for their first official meeting, where they will nominate the leadership for the committee. The leadership consists of the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary. The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson must be of the opposite gender.
- We all celebrate our new Executive Committee, then get to the task of working for the people of the county to bring about a better vision.
You don’t have to participate to attend. If you just want to check the whole thing out or even ask some questions, then feel free to attend. There’s no requirement to participate. The whole process should take 1-2 hours once we get started.
Tina Epperson and Chad Birch were appointed to oversee the convention and tabulate the results.
